Becoming an Educational Developer – First run of the course has started!

On Friday, 7 February, we launched the first run of our Becoming an Educational Developer: Strategies and Tools course, designed primarily for experts in pedagogical competencies. This run is particularly special as it is attended mainly by new Charles University specialists who focus on the area of pedagogical competencies at our faculties. Together with them, we are building Faculty Teaching and Learning Centres—an ambitious and profoundly meaningful project with the potential to positively impact teaching quality at Charles University. What will be essential for the success of this project? A shared vision, mutual support, and a community of knowledgeable professionals.

After just the first session, it is clear that we have an excellent and highly motivated group of participants in our course. During the session, we delved into the question of what educational development actually means. We also discussed the most common challenges faced by Teaching and Learning Centres at Charles University. Sharing experiences, strategies, and tools will be a key part of the entire semester, during which we will focus not only on developing participants’ skills but also on gradually building a broader community of experts in pedagogical competencies.

We Are Planning Additional Runs: The first run of the course has just begun, but we are already preparing the next one! The course will be open to participants outside Charles University as well, so if you are interested, we will certainly find a place for you. Our goal is to create a space for collaboration and the development of pedagogical competencies not only within a single university but across the academic community as a whole.

We look forward to more inspiring meetings filled with sharing and professional growth!

The course is funded by the ESF+ project, under which we are building Teaching and Learning Centres at CU faculties – places where academic staff can develop their pedagogical skills and share their experience.
