Becoming an Educational Developer – The First Course Run Is Behind Us!

In June, we awarded microcredentials to the very first graduates of our course Becoming an Educational Developer: Strategies and Tools. This semester-long course was designed for both academic and non-academic staff at Charles University who are involved in—or aspire to be involved in—supporting high-quality teaching: whether as instructors, mentors, or members of teaching support centres. These are the first ever microcredentials issued by the Rectorate of Charles University, and we are proud that Paedagogium was able to launch this initiative.

Throughout the semester, course participants immersed themselves in practical topics that can enhance the quality of university-level teaching—from working with feedback and motivation to mentoring skills and fostering a culture of sharing among faculty. We warmly congratulate all the graduates and eagerly anticipate how their newly acquired experiences, skills, and energy will enrich the academic environment at Charles University.

A big thank you goes to all the instructors who contributed to the course—Sarah Leupen, Manuele Milani, Karolina Duschinská, Michal Urban, and Bartłomiej Wróblewski. We particularly value the collaboration with our colleagues from the USA and Italy, as we understand that coordinating across time zones and working schedules was far from easy. Thanks to their dedication and effort, participants gained the best of an international experience, making the course even more valuable and inspiring.

The first course run has concluded successfully—and the next one starts on 12 September! This time, it will also be open to participants from outside Charles University. If you are interested in the course, let us know and we will be happy to try to find you a spot. Our goal is to create space for collaboration and the development of pedagogical competencies not only within Charles University but across the entire academic community.

We look forward to more shared experiences filled with inspiration, exchange, and professional growth!

The course is funded by the ESF+ project, within which we are building Teaching at Learning Centres at Charles University faculties—places where academic staff can develop their pedagogical skills and share experiences.
